Lately, I’ve been drawn to repair shops for outdoor gear on Instagram to help inform product improvements. So, we paid a visit to Ruby at Phenix Threads for her take on the repairability of our product.

Our customer base is small, our minimums are large, and mistakes have a greater impact due to the smaller pool of potential customers, which emphasizes the importance of taking care of you! 

There is so much to write here as we prepare for Fall 2025 and work to improve our product. I joke that as an outdoor apparel designer, I am really more of a fire fighter. Issues are always surfacing, but solutions are constantly being sought! For now, let’s focus on something a little more exciting: the future of fabrics!

You know those people who fold their tents? Ya, that is me. I would love to normalize this practice because it's good for your tent, making it last longer, and if more people knew, maybe I wouldn't get hounded by my friends. You may ask, “why are you talking about tents right now? You make pants.” I'll tell you: my desire for universal tent care surpasses care of just tents and extends to the entire textile world. The “knowledge” below can be applied to all apparel, so think outside the textile box with me for a moment….

The big takeaway. Save them for the wet chairlift days! But if you are feeling defiant, try it out for yourself! People are different. While we had reasonably pleasant touring experiences, we still do not call these a touring pant because they cause excess moisture build-up during high aerobic activities and the nature of the fabric.
